Kidnappers and thieves under pressure as lawyers threaten to stop representing them in court

– The Benin NBA chapter has threatened to withdraw its legal services from kidnap and robbery suspects in Edo state if Andy Ehanire and Osayomore Joseph who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen are not immediately released

– The group disclosed that they would soon convene a security summit with all relevant stakeholders to discuss a way forward

– The lawyers decried the state of insecurity in Edo, and urged the security services to work together to put an end to the activities of kidnappers and robbers in the state

An ultimatum has been issued by the Benin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to kidnap and robbery suspects in the state, that they would cease to represent them in court if the director of the Ogba zoo, Andy Ehanire, and ace musician, Osayomore Joseph, were not immediately released, The Nation reports.

The lawyers made their position known in a statement signed by Barr. Ede Asenoguan, Chairman, NBA, Benin chapter; and Osazuwa Omonuwa, the group’s secretary.

KULLOVE.com gathers that in the statement which was made available to journalists, the NBA decried the increased spate of illegal activities and insecurity in the state, and disclosed that it would soon convene a security summit with all relevant stakeholders to address the situation and find solutions.

The statement read: “Those responsible for the kidnap and continued abduction of Mr Ehanire and Ambassador Osayomore Joseph should release them immediately and unconditionally.

“That the Bar shall be forced to resume the withdrawal of her services to kidnap and armed robbery suspects in the state if the situation does not improve.

“That concerted efforts of all other security agencies in the state should work in tandem with the Edo state Police Command to confront these twin evil of kidnapping and armed robbery currently ravaging the peace of the state.

“That all residents of the state should be sensitive and ready to assist all the security agencies with relevant information in order to flush out the activities of these criminal minded persons in our midst.”

Recall that KULLOVE.com previously reported that veteran musician, Osayomore Joseph, was kidnapped by gunmen in Edo state.

The gunmen stormed the musician’s house at Orovie village, upper Ekenhuan road in Benin.

During the incident, the kidnappers also shot Joseph’s wife in the head and left her to die while they took away her husband.
