A commercial motorcyclist and his passenger, Tuesday, sustained varying degrees of injuries when the bike collided with a Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, bus.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at Idera Bus Stop, outbound Mile 12, when the Okadaman took the BRT corridor.
The eyewitness, who gave his name as Ojo Dayo, said the bus with code number 324, was moving outward Mile 12, while the motorcyclist, coming from Ikorodu, tried to cross the corridor, “unfortunately for him, he was not fast enough as he rammed into the bus, which was also moving on top speed.”
Another eyewitness, Babatunde Anjorin, said the accident attracted sympathisers, who tried to rescue the victims but their efforts were thwarted as some street urchins, popularly called area boys, rushed to the scene to take advantage of the situation.
He added that the urchins were quickly dispersed by some mobile policemen and the victims rushed to a nearby hospital.
The law enforcement agents also prevented total breakdown of law and order at the scene as the bus was prevented from being vandalised.
In a telephone conversation, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Task Force, Adebayo Taofik, said the agency will ensure sanity is restored to Lagos roads.
